Marc Bauder

director and producer

was born in Stuttgart in 1974, and studied business in Cologne, St. Gallen and New York. He began working as a director during his studies, and founded the production company bauderfilm in 1999. After embarking on a degree in production from HFF Konrad Wolf in Potsdam-Babelsberg in 2001, he broke off his studies after three semesters in order to concentrate on directing full-time. Intermittent forays into theater included the transformation of his documentary grow or go into the play Under Ice, which premiered at the Schaubühne Berlin. At the end of 2009, he presented is own theater adaptation for grow or go, which premiered in 2010 at the Théâtre National in Brussels. In 2011, he debuted his award-winning feature film THE SYSTEM, and his documentary MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE won the jury prize competition at the Semaine de la Critique in Locarno. Among other projects, Marc Bauder is currently working on the feature film THE MENTOR for HR/ARD.

Dörte Franke

author and director

was born in Leipzig in 1974, but moved to West Germany in 1981 after her parents were bought free from prison by the West after having served time as political prisoners. From 1994-2001, she studied political science at the University of Cologne, graduating with a master’s degree. From 2001-2006, she studied dramaturgy at the HFF Potsdam. Her publications include Die einen wetten, die anderen warten (novel, 2001, dtv) as well as denkmalimkopf (novel, 2002, dtv). She co-founded bauderfilm alongside Marc Bauder, with whom she helped produce a number of award-winning documentaries. As a screenwriter, Dörte Franke is represented by the Verlag der Autoren. One of her latest projects includes writing an episode of Tatort for Saarländischen Rundfunk.
